Revelation 19:17-21 The Final Battle

KEY TEXT: Revelation 19:17-21 Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he called to all the birds that fly directly overhead, "Come, gather for the great supper of God, to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave, both small and great." And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth with their armies gathered to make war against him who was sitting on the horse and against his army. And the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur. And the rest were slain by the sword that came from the mouth of him who was sitting on the horse, and all the birds were gorged with their flesh.

KEY THOT: This text calling for the birds to eat the "flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave, both small and great" reminds us of what Jesus said: "For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures will gather" (Matthew 24:27-28). These birds flying overhead mentioned in this chapter are the same vultures that Jesus said will gather. It signifies the coming of the Son of Man at the final battle of Antichrist armies against the returning Christ. There will be a great slaughter at the battlefield of all the armies of the world. The Beast and False Prophet will be captured and cast alive into the "the lake of fire that burns with sulfur" (a reference to hell) and the vultures will gorge themselves with the corpses of the fallen in this final battle.

How could the Antichrist rally the armies of the world against the returning Christ? If we have been watching sci-fi movies being churned out from Hollywood in recent years (e.g. Independence Day), the idea of Alien invasion that unites the world is being portrayed as a possibility. In his speech to the UN on 21 Sep 1987, President Ronald Reagan said: "I occasionally think how quickly our differences worldwide would vanish if we were facing an alien threat from outside this world." And the world is now being deceived and brain-washed into thinking that any invasion originating in the heavenlies would be some kind of alien invasion, rather than God.

This past Monday, I attended a preview of the movie produced by Creation Ministries International (CMI) at Bartley Christian Church entitled Alien Intrusion: Unmasking a Deception (https://creation.com/journey-to-remember). It is an exposé of the demons masquerading as aliens from outer space to deceive and oppress humans. The belief in UFOs (benign or otherwise) is the new global religion (aided no less but Hollywood). It would mean that it is now possible for the Antichrist and the False Prophet to rally the nations of the world to believe that any invading power from heavens would be malignant aliens that need to be destroyed. This itself might sound far-fetched and sci-fi, but the deception is not a joke, as this movie reveals. (Watch it when it is screened in your church).

But the truth remains: Jesus' return will be preceded by the armies of the world united to fight Him and his saints. The result will be massive destruction and death on earth that will cause Jesus' prophecy to be fulfilled: "Where the corpse is, there the vultures will gather" (Luke 17:37).

Abba-Father, there is so much deception going on around the world as Your Son's coming draw near. May You open the hearts and minds of Your people to prepare them for Your coming. Amen.
