KEY TEXT: Revelation 7:9-12 After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!" And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying, "Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen."
KEY THOT: Beside the Jewish tribes mentioned in verses 1-8, John now describes the rest of the redeemed in heaven: "a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb" (v.9). The elect of God consists of both the Jews and Gentiles in heaven. Obviously, there will be more Gentile believers than Jewish believers because they could not be numbered. They were all crying out, "Salvation belongs to our God who sits upon the throne and to the Lamb!"
Jesus has said that "this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come" (Matthew 24:14). And indeed this will happen, even in the midst of the Great Tribulation. Multitudes will be saved, but as the church of Jesus Christ, we must be prepared and equipped for the Great Harvest, not just the Great Tribulation. While the Great Tribulation is what the world will do to the church ("In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world"- John 16:33), the Great Harvest is what the church will do to the world.
Therefore, our focus as end-time believers should not be on the Great Tribulation but rather on the Great Harvest that is soon coming. Jesus has confirmed that in the world we will have tribulation, but through Him, we will overcome the world and defeat the devil through the gospel of the kingdom. The only way to defeat the Great Tribulation is to through the Great Harvest by turning the persecutors of Christ into proclaimers of Christ through the gospel.
The devil has already lost this final battle for the world because Jesus has already declared his victory over the world. But as a church, our focus should not be on devil's work (the Great Tribulation) but on Christ's impending victory (the Great Harvest) in the world.
Thank God for the multitudes we will see coming to Christ in Singapore in the coming days of the Great Harvest.
Abba-Father, You have a heart for the lost people and You have died for them. You loved them, even though they hate Your people. May there be a might harvest of souls in Singapore! Amen.
