KEY THOT: David’s life is defined by his trust in the Lord. His daily confession is: “You are my God!” and also “my times are in your hand.” Such is David’s confidence that the Lord who is his God has him completely in his hand. Whatever may happen to him, He knows that he is in the palm of the Almighty God. So, he is able to pray, “Rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors!” David has enemies. No matter how “nice” we may be, if we are following the Lord, we expect to make enemies. Jesus also has his enemies who plotted his death. But what is more important than enemies is the fact that we are in God’s hand because He is our God. If we have no enemies, Jesus would not have said, “Love your enemies!”
So, we are living in the real world—and real world has real problems and real enemies. But we can daily pray, “Make your face shine on your servant; save me in Your steadfast love!” When troubles come, don’t focus on the troubles or the enemies who created them, but focus on the Lord in whose hand we are covered and declare: “You are my God!”
May this song starts your day with the right focus: “I Trust in You” (Youtube: https://youtu.be/CcBWOBUVdfY)
Father, what a privilege to know we are in the palm of Your hand, that no matter what others may do, we can trust in You to deliver us from our enemies. Lord, I commit this day into Your hand and rest in Your presence and protection. Amen.
