KEY TEXT: Ezek 2:1-2 And he said to me, "Son of man, stand on your feet, and I will speak with you." And as he spoke to me, the Spirit entered into me and set me on my feet, and I heard him speaking to me.
KEY THOT: God asked Ezekiel to “stand on your feet”. And the next moment the Spirit entered him and “set me on my feet”. Whenever God calls us to do something, He also empowers to do it. However, the key that activates this joint venture is our obedience. Though unstated, Ezekiel obeys God’s call to stand up and the Spirit immediately raises him up. Moments before, Ezekiel was “slain” and lying on the ground (Ezek 1:28b).
Whenever God calls me to do something, even things I’ve never had any experience before, the only thing required of me is to obey. Once the obedience is there, the power to perform is given. When God calls us to do something, I am never to say “I can’t” but it shall always be, “I will”. Sometime the Spirit simply stirs up the gifts that are already within us and have remained dormant. Sometime, He imparts new graces and gifts to enable us to do it.
It is so exciting to walk by faith. When I am obedient, my life is an adventure filled with surprises and opportunities to grow stronger and better as Christ’s disciple. Only by obeying that I grow. Listening or studying God's word are just means to the intended goal: obedience.
Thank You Father that when You call, You also empower. Amen.
