Psalm 23 The Lord is My Shepherd

KEY VERSE: Psalm 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

KEY THOT: Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I can have the assurance that His goodness and mercy (loving-kindness) will be my experience in all of my life. Goodness and mercy together equal divine favour always—in my family life, my professional life, my social and my spiritual life. In Christ, I am blessed with every blessing; I have become God’s favourite.

What an assurance of divine favour—as my Shepherd, the Lord leads me, guides, protects me, rescues from my enemies. I can rest in His divine favour.

"Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!" Jesus is MY Shepherd, my personal Guide. I know that as God’s child, I’ll always experience His favour no matter what I do. If I follow wherever the Shepherd leads, I will experience spiritual nourishment and renewal, protection and guidance and the abundant life.

I must stay with my Shepherd, not stray from Him. If I stay with Him, I’ll be protected from wolves, from hunger and thirst and from my enemies. I will have abundance in this life and will dwell in his presence in the next. Staying close to my Shepherd is the only way to enjoy his goodness and mercy.

Father, what assurance You have given in this psalm. May Your goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life! Amen.
