1 John 4:7-21 Love is from God

KEY TEXT: 1 John 4:11-12 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

KEY THOT: Love is the language of heaven. If we are true citizens of heaven, we naturally love one another because the God who lives in and among us speaks the language of love. When God’s kingdom presence and power is manifested among us, love fills the very air we breathe.

I know that God’s Spirit is working among us when I see God’s love overflows in His children towards outsiders. If we love only those who love us, we are no difference from non-believers. The only thing that marks us out as children of God is that our love overflows to outsiders, to those who don’t deserve it.

I have to constantly and consciously speak and act in love. Sometime I forget to “love thy neighbor” when I become too self-absorbed. I need always to be on the look-out for the interests of others, not just my own.

Father, teach me to love my neighbor—who may be Christian or non-Christian, so that they may know You who is love. Amen.
