Psalm 31:9-16 You are My God!

KEY VERSE: Ps 31:14 But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, "You are my God."

KEY THOT: In the midst of suffering, when everything and everyone are against me, there is only one thing left to do: look up.

In a crisis, I have no control over what may happen to me. But I can control one thing—my heart. I can look up and affirm my trust in the Lord and I can declare, “You are my God”. When I cry out to God, He will deliver me: “Make your face shine on your servant; save me in your steadfast love!” (v.16).

They say that in this world, the only certainty is change. And change can be in either direction – better or bitter. But the real certainty in my life of faith is God. He remains unchanging and always trustworthy and faithful. I can look up instead of look around and expect that God will deliver me from that crisis.

Like the psalmist, I can affirm that God is my Lord and King. As long as my goal in life is to honour Him rather than myself, I know that I’m in safe hands: “My times are in your hand; rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors!” (Ps 31:15). Daily, I must keep my focus on serving Christ my King in all that I do—especially in the workplaces.

Prayer: Father, what a privilege that I can say, “You are my God” for there is none other. Thank You that I am the child of the Almighty and nothing can defeat me when I put my trust in You—not even death. Amen.
