Psalm 111 – God’s Works Are Great

KEY VERSE: Ps 111:2 Great are the WORKS of the Lord, STUDIED by all who DELIGHT in them.

God has done great and marvelous works—both in creation and in history. It’s a great delight to study God’s works in nature and also his works in history as recorded in Scriptures. Our God is a creative Worker and we know Him through His Works as revealed in his Word.
When we study Science (astronomy, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, etc) we are studying God as He expresses His grace and mercy through His works in nature. When we study Scripture, we are also studying God as He expresses His grace and mercy through His works among men, especially through men of faith: “He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and merciful” (v.4).
When I study Scripture I’m not just trying to gain bible knowledge; I’m trying to understand and delight in God who revealed his works and his ways through Creation and through the Bible. Daily meditation on God’s Word is delighting in the God who is at still at work.
Father, how majestic and glorious are Your works! For You are a God who is at work and You have made us to delight in our work for through our work we come to know Your work and learn to bless others by revealing Your grace and mercy to others in the work we do. Amen.
